The Spirit of God

One of my favorite topics besides faith is the Holy Spirit. I remember as a young child, my mother made me read Good Morning Holy Spirit by Benny Hinn. Whatever your personal reservations may be about Hinn, the book is amazing. As a child, I was introduced to the Holy Spirit at an early age. It is imperative that as a child of God, you are aware of God's presence moving in your life. I want to talk to you from a particular passage from Romans 8. As a Christian, you have to understand that living by the Spirit of God is something you MUST do if you want to have an abundant life. Abundance is set in the foundation of operating by God's spirit. I created a packet for Girls of Royalty called The Holy Spirit Part 1. We broke down who the Holy Spirit was and the basics of His character and being. We are not perfect and there are many times our flesh will try and rise. We make mistakes. No one is perfect. However, we should aim to live more by the Holy Spirit day in and day out.

How is a child of God marked ? What sets them apart ? The Holy Spirit. I find it quite difficult to digest the idea that some Christians do not believe in the moving of God's presence. Some believe that during the time of the Pentecost back in Acts 2, that was the only time the Holy Spirit moved like that. What a crazy thought. The Holy Spirit and your walk with God can not be separated. Let's look at Romans 8.

Romans 8:13-17 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die:but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint- heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Life is based in living by God's presence. Why do we need His presence ? The Holy Spirit is God's presence moving through out the earth. If we look back in the book of Genesis, the Holy Spirit "hovered over the waters" (Genesis 1:2). The Holy Spirit has always been in action since the beginning of time. When God spoke for the world to be so, it was the Holy Spirit that carried it out. When God speaks things to be so in our lives, we have to listen to what God is trying to do so that we can make the right choices and decisions. We may not get it right ALL of the time. However, wouldn't you like to get it right more than you did wrong ? I know I would. When we look at Romans 8, what we see are several things.

1. Living by the Spirit = True Life/Freedom 2. A child of God is led by the Holy Spirit 3. The Holy Spirit is God's marking on our lives

The Holy Spirit is what makes us bold and courageous. When you are led by God's Spirit, you are living the life of true faith. You begin to go by what God has declared instead of what man has said. God's Spirit is not contained just to the things of the earth but stretches out to the supernatural as well. God knows ALL things. His presence stretches across every piece of land, body of water, and mountain. There is NOTHING God is NOT aware of. With that being said, when you are led by God's Spirit you will begin to make decisions that you may not even see as beneficial but because of God's favor it will protect you in the long run. There have been so many times in my life where I questioned why God was leading me to a particular place or why He spoke in my spirit to do this or that. God saw into my future. He created me and molded me. When you listen to the voice of God, you are accepting God's protection over your life. Some of us are not listening to God's voice and it is putting us in places where we have no business of being in. This is why it is important to be around people who are like-minded and are heeding to the Spirit of God. It's the Holy Spirit that sets the believer apart. Why do you think Jesus didn't fully walk in His ministry until He received the Holy Spirit ? When the sky opened up and the Holy Spirit came over Him, THEN Jesus was ready to fulfill the will of God. How can we do God's will without walking by the Spirit of God ? If Jesus needed the Holy Spirit, then we do too.

Accept God's hand moving in your life. Listen to God's voice. Let the Holy Spirit guide you in all things. What can you do without the Holy Spirit ? The answer is: NOTHING.
